Viking Kite Shield (Painted)(Wooden)

Viking Kite Shield (Painted)(Wooden)

When William the Conqueror sailed across the Channel in 1066 he took 3000 horses on 700 small sailing boats with him and headed from the Normandy across the channel to England. In the following battle William’s army was victorious largely due to his cavalry assisted by archers. They charged into the wall of shields put up by the Saxon infantry and thus won the battle. The shield has been hand painted with a green and yellow design as seen on the Bayeux tapestry. There are three strong adjustable leather straps fixed at the backside of the shield which allows you to wear it at the arm or hang it over the shoulder, on the reverse side there is leather covered padding to cushion to give protection to the fore arm. The steel boss is unmounted and you can mount it either with the six screws with round heads provided, or with rivets or nails.
