A reproduction inspired by the spectacular helmets recovered from the boat-grave cemetery at Vendel, Uppland, Sweden — the site that gave its name to the entire Vendel Period between the Migration Period and the Viking Age.

The boat-grave cemetery at Vendel, Uppland, is one of the iconic archaeological sites of first-millennium Sweden, its high-status grave-goods — including helmets, swords, shields, and spears — widely displayed and studied since their discovery over 130 years ago. The site gave its name to the entire Vendel Period (roughly 550-800 AD), the era between the Migration Period and the Viking Age, when Scandinavian elites maintained wide-ranging contact with Merovingian Gaul and Anglo-Saxon England. A double-edged sword from Grave I at Vendel, with a gilded bronze hilt inlaid with garnets, silver, and niello, is among the site's most celebrated finds alongside its helmets.

Deepeeka's reproduction draws on this rich Vendel Period tradition, part of our Viking heritage range.
