When Colt 1911 pistol production couldn’t keep pace with the rapid expansion of the American military during the First World War, the M1917 revolver, chambered for the same .45 ACP cartridge via special half-moon clips, filled the gap and remained in limited service into the Second World War. This reproduction recreates the leather holster pattern issued alongside it.
US M1917 .45 Revolver Holster, WWI/WWII Pattern
This holster recreates the pattern used for the M1917 .45 revolver, issued to American forces during both the First and Second World Wars. The M1917 supplemented the Colt 1911 pistol when production of the semi-automatic sidearm couldn’t meet wartime demand. Genuine leather construction gives the holster real durability for regular field use.
