A companion dagger reflecting the Teutonic Order, the German crusading military order founded in the late 12th century that went on to carve out its own state along the Baltic coast.
The Teutonic Order was founded around 1190 during the Third Crusade, initially as a hospital order caring for German pilgrims and crusaders before formally militarising. Unlike the Knights Templar, whose focus remained the Holy Land, the Teutonic Knights redirected much of their crusading energy northward into the Baltic region, eventually ruling their own monastic state across what is now Poland, Lithuania, and the Baltic states.
