The Deepeeka reconstruction of the most famous find at the burial, the Sutton Hoo Helm. Intricately engraved, spangenhelm design, with face guard, brass fittings, hinged cheek pieces and neck guard. Brass fittings.
This replica of the Sutton Hoo Helmet is lavishly embellished with riveted brass detailing and embossed iconographic plates. The interior of the helmet, is lined with natural vegetable tanned leather. There is also an integrated leather suspension liner which can be adjusted to modify how high the helmet sits on the head.
One of the most famous of archaeological finds, the kingly Sutton Hoo Helmet is one of the few Anglo Saxon helmets that have weathered almost a millennia and a half of time. Easily one of the most lavish helmets of the Early Medieval Period, the Sutton Hoo helmet was probably buried in a ‘’ship grave’’ around 625 AD and is usually attributed to being the helmet of King Rædwald of East Anglia.
The helmet today is a highlight display at the British Museum, London.
The Deluxe Sutton Hoo Helmet is constructed from 18 gauge steel and is thoroughly embellished with detailed brasswork. The iconographic plates of the original helmet were made from tinned bronze and they are replicated here in antiqued aluminum. The interior of the helmet, its articulated backplates, cheekplates and its faceplate are lined with stitched, quality leather. An integrated leather suspension liner allows the fit of the helmet to be adjusted. It is finished with a leather chinstrap with an adjustable brass buckle.
