This Deepeeka reproduction is based on a 15th-century rondel dagger associated with the Oakeshott Institute Collection. The original was discovered alongside a small arming sword and is believed to have originated in an Italian workshop.
The dagger was recovered from an opened tomb in France in the late 19th century, giving the original an unusual combination of Italian manufacture and French archaeological provenance.
The rondel dagger was a characteristic form of late medieval dagger, distinguished by its disc-shaped guards at the hilt. This reproduction has been developed from the historical example represented in the Oakeshott collection and is intended for collectors, historical enthusiasts, museums and reenactment use.
