The cingulum’s decorative apron, formed from several narrow leather strips known as pteruges, hung from the belt and was itself covered in continuous rows of riveted metal fittings, each strap typically finishing in a metal pendant. This reproduction recreates that full arrangement in natural leather, with embossed brass belt plates and an apron decorated in enamelled brass rosettes, plus the dedicated holders needed to suspend a pugio dagger from the belt in the historical manner.
Cingulum Militare, Disc Pattern, with Rosette Apron
This legionary belt is built from high-quality natural leather with embossed brass plates riveted directly into the surface, forming a genuinely durable and decorative cingulum. It includes the full historical apron, or pteruges, decorated with enamelled brass rosettes along with dedicated pugio dagger holders. Together these elements recreate the layered, richly decorated look that made the cingulum as much a display of status as functional kit.
