The Coptic tunic, documented from surviving textile fragments preserved in Egypt’s dry climate, was decorated with woven or embroidered vertical stripes called clavi, running from shoulder to hem.
This reproduction is made from cotton in white with red stripes, reflecting genuine surviving examples of late Roman and early Byzantine Egyptian dress, among the best-preserved textile evidence from the ancient world.
