  Muscle cuirasses were often highly ornamented with mythological scenes, but archaeological finds of relatively unadorned examples, alongside artistic depictions of military scenes, show that simpler versions were also worn in genuine combat. This leather musculata reflects that plainer, combat-oriented end of the tradition, its anatomical form present without elaborate figural decoration. A lightweight leather build offers real wearability for extended re-enactment use.
