The Martini-Henry was the standard British service rifle from 1871 into the 1880s, a single-shot, breech-loading, lever-actuated design that armed British regulars and colonial forces across the Empire. It is most famously associated with the 1879 defence of Rorke's Drift during the Anglo-Zulu War, where a small British garrison held off a vastly larger Zulu force.
