  This helmet reflects the conical, nasal-guarded form worn by Norman knights and depicted throughout the Bayeux Tapestry's account of the 1066 Norman Conquest of England. Its simple, riveted construction and single nasal guard offered effective, economical protection well suited to mass equipping a mounted invasion force.   Morion Helmet, Plain

  The morion is an open helmet used from the mid-16th through the early 17th century, characterised by a flat, upturned brim and a distinctive comb running front to back. This plain reproduction recreates that open helmet form, with its flat brim and central crest, in an unadorned finish. Its low production cost historically aided the morion’s spread, popular among ordinary pikemen and musketeers rather than being reserved for elite troops alone.

  Italo-Corinthian Helmet, Brass, with Plume

  The Italo-Corinthian helmet developed a distinctive silhouette after Italian warriors took to wearing the classical Corinthian helmet pushed up on the forehead, even in the thick of battle, for a clearer view and better hearing. This eventually transformed the once face-covering visor into a purely decorative feature, while the helmet itself came to be worn more like a cap than a fully enclosing helm. A horsehair plume, as fitted here, added both visual presence and a further mark of status to the wearer.

  Celtic Helmet, Montefortino Pattern

  The Montefortino helmet form originated among Celtic peoples in the 4th century BC, before Rome adopted it so thoroughly that it came to define the Republican legionary's silhouette for centuries. Its conical or rounded profile, topped with a raised central knob and finished with a modest neck guard and cheek plates, remained recognisable across the type's long, continually modified service life. This piece reflects the Celtic form in its own right, distinct from the later Roman-adopted versions carried by the legions.
