Guard spear
A Guard Spear is a pole weapon consisting of a shaft, usually of wood, with a pointed head. The head may be simply the sharpened end of the shaft itself, as is the case with fire hardened spears, or it may be made of a more durable material fastened to the shaft, such as flint, obsidian, iron, steel or bronze. It is battle ready.
Spears were often a mainstay in a medieval army, although in close quarters combat, a huge six-foot long spear could become more than unwieldy. That is why there were shorter spears, like this Guard Spear, which excelled at a much shorter range. This spear is modeled no differently than a typical medieval warriors spear, with one exception. Where-as a typical warrior would have carried a spear that was easily five to six feet in length, this spear is much shorter, making it lighter and easier to carry, as well as much easier to wield in tight spaces, as well as easier to wield skillfully with one hand. The spear is otherwise a standard spear, featuring a leaf-shaped blade with a broad, round base that gradually tapers to a sharp, penetrative point.
