The hoplite Xiphos was the secondary weapon of the citizen-soldier of the Greek polis — drawn only when the spear broke or the formation dissolved into individual combat, but in those moments potentially decisive. Its leaf-shaped double-edged blade was well-suited to both the thrusting attacks of close-formation fighting and the slashing strokes of open melee.

This version features a hand-forged carbon steel blade in the classic hoplite Xiphos profile, with a full tang sandwiched in bone scales — the bone providing both historical authenticity and an attractive appearance that ages well with handling. The wooden scabbard with leather covering and bone chape tip completes a piece that presents well on display and is credible for living history use.

The 29-inch overall length reflects the upper end of the documented Xiphos range — swords of this length appear in the archaeological record from Campovalano and related sites, reflecting the individual variation that existed within the broadly defined Xiphos tradition.
