This sword is named for the Great Ouse, an English river, following the same naming convention as Deepeeka’s River Witham Sword — a tradition that reflects how many of the finest surviving English Medieval swords were recovered from major rivers, likely deposited as ritual offerings or lost in river crossings. It carries the Type X classification, the direct successor form to the Viking sword as Europe moved into the Medieval period.
