Description

Our hand-painted Viking shield features Fafnir, the fearsome dragon of Norse legend, whose greed and treachery became the stuff of myth. Once a dwarf, Fafnir was transformed into a monstrous serpent after slaying his own father to claim a cursed hoard of gold. Consumed by his lust for wealth, he retreated into the wilderness, guarding his treasure and spreading terror to all who dared approach.

His reign of fear was ultimately ended by the hero Sigurd, who, guided by cunning and fate, struck Fafnir down from beneath as the beast crawled over a pit. With the dragon’s death, Sigurd claimed both glory and the cursed riches—though the shadow of that treasure would follow him thereafter.

The shield is edged with natural rawhide to protect from sword and axe cuts.
