This drinking horn carries Yggdrasil, the great World Tree of Norse mythology, connecting the nine realms of the Norse cosmos.
Drinking horns are among the oldest vessels in human history, used long before pottery or metal cups became widely available, since a hollowed animal horn was naturally watertight and required no firing or casting. They remained in genuine use well into the medieval period, especially at feasts, alongside carved wooden cups and mugs as everyday, accessible tableware. Yggdrasil’s roots and branches were said to link gods, giants, humans and the dead across the mythological universe, making it a genuinely powerful and popular motif.
Deepeeka’s reproduction recreates that mythologically rich drinking horn, sold without stand, part of our Norse heritage range.
