  This skillet has been designed with the bygone medieval era in mind, though it works equally well for modern-day campers.

  Round-bottomed skillets were common medieval cookware, practical for a range of cooking methods over an open fire or bed of coals, simple enough in construction to have changed little in basic form across centuries. This reproduction has a round bottom and flat edges, suited to sitting directly over coals or resting on a cooking stand.

  The fire pit saw genuine use in the medieval period for protection against cold, round in shape and appropriate for burning wood in open space.

  Containing a fire safely mattered as much in the medieval period as at a modern re-enactment camp, and a raised, based fire pit addressed that directly. This reproduction offers an alternative build within our round fire pit range.

  Fire Striker, Viking Lyre Shape

  A fire striker, or fire steel, is a piece of high-carbon steel struck against flint or similar hard stone to shave off tiny particles of metal that ignite as sparks, hot enough to catch tinder such as char cloth. This version follows the distinctive lyre-shaped profile associated specifically with Viking-Age fire strikers, a form apparently unique to that culture. Museum shops in Scandinavia commonly sell reproductions of this shape as the archetypal Viking striker, based on genuine archaeological finds.

  This fork and knife set is designed with ease of use and storage in mind, highly useful for campers at re-enactment events. Forks reached Western Europe only slowly and controversially, first documented in Italy through an 11th-century Byzantine marriage and not widely accepted for centuries. A practical, compact pairing suited to camp cooking and dining.
