A Hallstatt-period Celtic bronze short sword featuring a compact leaf-shaped blade. A decorative sidearm-style replica inspired by early European finds

This Hallstatt Celtic Bronze Short Sword represents a compact form of early European weaponry from the Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age transition, dating approximately between 800 and 500 BCE.

Unlike longer ceremonial or prestige swords, this shorter variant is believed to have functioned as a practical sidearm, offering greater control and maneuverability in close combat situations. The blade is cast in bronze and features a refined leaf-shaped profile, widening toward the center before tapering to the point—an efficient design for slashing strikes.

The hilt and blade are cast and assembled using traditional riveted construction, reflecting historical manufacturing techniques of the period. Such swords are widely found across Central Europe and the British Isles, forming a key part of the material culture of the Hallstatt world.

Bronze weapons, while less resilient than later iron blades, were highly effective in their time. They offered excellent corrosion resistance, which is why many archaeological examples have survived in remarkable condition. In combat, bronze blades tended to bend rather than shatter, allowing them to be re-shaped if necessary.

Due to its cast bronze construction, this sword is intended primarily for decorative, collection, and educational purposes. It is not recommended for reenactment combat or functional use.

This piece is ideal for collectors seeking a more compact and accessible representation of early Celtic weaponry.
