A distinctive Late Medieval dagger form named for the pair of rounded, oval swellings flanking its guard, one of the most recognisable Medieval European hilt silhouettes.
The bollock dagger takes its name from the paired, rounded swellings at the base of the grip, formed in one piece with the wooden handle and reinforced at the top with a shaped metal washer. Carried widely across England and continental Europe from the 14th century onward, it became one of the most recognisable Medieval dagger silhouettes, worn by everyone from common soldiers to gentry.
