The Roman cingulum, the military belt, was a genuine status symbol as much as practical equipment, its stamped brass plates, apron straps and fittings reflecting a soldier’s pride in his position within the legion. Losing the right to wear a belt was itself a recognised military punishment, and going without one in public was considered genuinely shameful for a legionary. This component is sold separately, suited to building, repairing or customising your own cingulum belt.
This belt plate is stamped from 18-gauge brass, measuring approximately 4.5 x 5cm.
Deepeeka’s reproduction offers a genuine component for building or restoring a Roman military belt.
