This sword recreates the classic arming sword form carried by European knights and men-at-arms through the 15th century, a period when plate armour had reached its full development.
By this stage of the medieval period, sword design had adapted to face fully armoured opponents, with narrower, stiffer blades increasingly favoured for thrusting through the gaps in plate over broad cutting edges alone.
