A double-fullered longsword reflecting the equipment of the great pan-European crusading army defeated at the Battle of Nicopolis in 1396, one of the last major Crusades and a catastrophic loss for Christian Europe against the Ottoman Empire.
The Battle of Nicopolis in 1396 saw a large pan-European crusading force — including French, Burgundian, Hungarian, and other contingents — decisively defeated by the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I, a defeat that effectively ended the era of large-scale organised Crusades and left Hungary exposed to continued Ottoman pressure for the next century. This double-fullered longsword reflects the type of blade carried by knights of that doomed campaign.
Deepeeka’s reproduction is heat treated to a Rockwell hardness of 48-52 and built with a full tang, part of our Medieval heritage range.
