The Coolus E Helmet is an adaption of Celtic descent that was evolved by the Roman legions and its auxiliaries into the helmet It is an effective and defensible piece that is a renactment of definite Roman style.
The Coolus “E” is an accurate replica ornate based off historical research and authentic in its design. The second known group of helmets, was the Coolus variety, which covered the period 3rd century BC to at least 79AD. These were based on a Gallic form of helmet made in the Coolus district of Marne. In form they were a simple hemispherical bowl made out of bronze with a reinforcing peak running horizontally across the brow and with a larger extension at the back as a neck guard. This Roman Coolus Helmet is constructed from 18 gauge brass and fitted with hinged cheekplates. It also has an integrated plume holders on its sides, and the top spike is notched to allow it to be used to hold a second plume.
