Quick overview:

Imperial Gallic ‘A’

The Imperial helmet-type was a type of helmet worn by Roman legionaries; it replaced the Coolus type, and constituted the final evolutionary stage of the legionary helmet (galea).

Our Imperial Gallic 'A' (Nijmegen) replicates the earliest model of the Weisenau-type helmet, which stretches over 200 years of development up to the Niedermormter.
This Imperial Gallic 'A' helmet carries simple but distinct eyebrows which were typical of the Gallic models during the Roman empire, there are ear openings though without the ear guard flaps developed in later models.
The original Imperial Gallic 'A' was found with pottery dated during the reign of Emperor Augustus.
